The Aqua-check meter comes with one test-bottle

Nitrate

The nitrate (NO3-) package includes:

  • injector (range 0.2 to 1.0 ml)
  • 1 test bottle (empty)
  • 1 stick, with a big spoon on one end, and a small spoon on the other end
  • test-powder R1 (grey powder, small quantity)
  • test-powder R2 (white powder, larger quantity)

For testing water in the range of 6 to 30 mg nitrate per litre water:

1) Fill up 2 test bottles (A and B) with the test-water up to the marked level (at 75% of total volume)

2) Add 2 flattened small spoons of the grey powder (R1) to one of the bottles (bottle A). Screw the lid on. Shake the bottle until the powder has dissolved totally. Leave the bottle for 2 minutes.

3) Add 1 flattened big spoon of the white powder (R2) to the same bottle (bottle A) Screw the lid on. Shake the bottle until the powder has dissolved totally.

4) Use the AquaCheck to measure the nitrate level in bottle A, exactly 6 minutes after having added powder R2 (in step 3).

5) Use the AquaCheck to measure the nitrate level in control bottle B.

If the resulting nitrate level was above 30 mg / L, then repeat the test, but this time with distilled water added. For testing water in the range of 30 to 120 mg nitrate per litre water:

1) Fill up 2 test bottles (A and B) with 5 ml test-water each. Use the injector to suck up 1.0 ml of test water, and inject the water into bottle A. Repeat 5 times, so that bottle A will contain 5 ml of test water. Do the same for bottle B.

2) Add distilled water (or nitrate-free bottled water) to both bottles (A and B) up to the marked level (at 75% of total volume)

3) Add 2 flattened small spoons of the grey powder (R1) to one of the bottles (bottle A). Screw the lid on. Shake the bottle until the powder has dissolved totally. Leave the bottle for 2 minutes.

4) Add 1 flattened big spoon of the white powder (R2) to the same bottle (bottle A) Screw the lid on. Shake the bottle until the powder has dissolved totally.

5) Use the AquaCheck to measure the nitrate level in bottle A, exactly 6 minutes after having added powder R2 (in step 4).

6) Use the AquaCheck to measure the nitrate level in control bottle B.

7) Multiply the test results by 4. So if the AquaCheck indicates a nitrate level of 20 mg / L, the actual result is 4 times 20 = 80 mg / L

Phosphate

The phosphate (PO43-) package includes:
